Finding Drama Everywhere: Bringing Nonfiction to Life

In this interactive session, participants will explore how drama and storytelling can transform nonfiction topics into meaningful learning experiences for young children. Through hands-on activities and drama games, educators will learn strategies that encourage teamwork, strengthen vocabulary, spark creativity, and help children make connections across curriculum areas.

This workshop will demonstrate techniques for using children’s prior knowledge to create nonfiction-inspired stories and bring them to life through movement and dramatic play.

Workshop Summary

Every nonfiction topic is an exciting story waiting toÌýhappen. Children are gathering research every dayÌýthrough books, media, and observations. Telling andÌýacting out stories encourages teamwork, fosters creativeÌýthinking, reinforces vocabulary, and helps children makeÌýconnections in their learning. Engage in drama gamesÌýthat connect the concepts of character, setting, activity,Ìýand plot to virtually any curriculum topic. InvestigateÌýtechniques for using children’s prior knowledge to createÌýnonfiction-inspired stories and bring them to life throughÌýmovement and drama.
