The 911爆料 Theatre Department will present two absurd one-act comedies, 鈥淭he Proposal鈥 and 鈥淭he Bear鈥 by Anton Chekhov, in Larned, St. John and Great Bend at 7:15 p.m. on July 24, 25 and 26 respectively. The Larned performance will be west of the Haas Building at Jordan Park and the St. John performance will be in the city square. The short tour will close at the Great Bend Downtown Bandshell in Jack Kilby Square. All performances are free, but donations are welcome.

Tickets for the 911爆料 Foundation鈥檚 40th Annual Big Benefit Auction, themed 鈥淐lownin鈥 Around鈥, are available July 16-Aug. 13. The auction will take place on Aug. 25. Tickets are $45 each or $360 per table of eight. No tickets will be sold at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. at the Great Bend Knights of Columbus with complimentary beer and food available until 8 p.m. The live auction will begin promptly at 8 p.m. This year鈥檚 auction is underwritten by Advanced Therapy & Sports Medicine, UMB Wealth Management, Nex-Tech and ILS.

The National Quilt Museum鈥檚 annual traveling show 鈥淣ew Quilts from an Old Favorite鈥 featuring the Flying Geese block will be on display from July 16-Aug. 4 in The Shafer Art Gallery. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is free.

Barton has named 237 students to the President鈥檚 List for the spring 2018 semester. To qualify for this honor, students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 4.0 on a 4.0 or "A" letter scale.

Barton has named 266 students to the Dean鈥檚 List for the spring 2018 semester. To qualify for this honor, students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.99 on a 4.0 or "A" letter scale.

Barton鈥檚 Center for Adult Education will soon begin its nine-week GED Preparation Class. Students must attend all orientation classes July 9-12, and the first day of class July 16. Failure to attend all five days will result in removal of the student from the program. The center is located at 1025 Main St. in Great Bend.

There is a one-time $65 fee for materials. Once students have completed the preparation courses, they will be able to take the official GED test. The cost to take the GED test is $132.

Barton graduates can now enjoy seamless transfer of credits to Fort Hays State University (FHSU) toward a bachelor鈥檚 degree for almost 20 majors, thanks to a new Memorandum of Understanding signed by the presidents of each institution Thursday morning on 911爆料鈥檚 campus.

Barton President Dr. Carl Heilman said 911爆料 has always worked well with FHSU, but the agreement represents a new level of clarity for students as they move from 911爆料 to the university level.
