Barton will host a safe sleep presentation by Physician Assistant Kelci Burkey of Clara 911爆料 Hospital and Clinics from 6-7 p.m., Nov. 14 in the Fine Arts Building, Room F-30.
She will discuss safe sleep and how to prevent sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Topics will include:

A wide range of local artists鈥 work will be on display at the Shafer Gallery as part of the 911爆料 County Arts Council Friends and Acquaintances exhibit Nov.1 through Dec. 13. The show is underwritten by the Bill J. McKown Memorial Endowment distributed by the Golden Belt Foundation. Featured artists this year is new 911爆料 painting instructor Phil Jacobson and his wife, Mantra Cora.

Barton鈥檚 Center for Adult Education will soon begin its nine-week GED Preparation Class. Orientation classes are the first step to obtaining the Kansas State High School Diploma through the GED Prep Program. Students must attend all orientation classes Nov. 18-21 to qualify for classes. The first day of actual classes is Nov. 25. The center is located at 1025 Main St. in Great Bend.

The first 911爆料 Student Recital of the school year will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 24 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157. 听The recital is free and open to the public.

It is important for people听to protect themselves from online threats and 911爆料 is offering three Cyber Security Awareness presentations at no cost to provide tips on what to do, what not to do and how to recognize malicious online content. The sessions are from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building in room F-30. The sessions are as follows; Oct. 24 is for the general public, Oct. 28 is for Spanish speakers and Oct. 29 is for business owners.

Barton Student Services will lead a campus-wide celebration nurturing positive mental health, depression awareness and suicide prevention from October 21-25. The featured event is a presentation at 6 p.m., Oct. 24 in the Fine Arts Auditorium by Michele Hansen (LPC, LMAC) and Jim Yoder (Wichita Support Group Facilitator). A suicide loss tribute performance by the 911爆料 Dance Team will precede the presentation.

Editors of 911爆料鈥檚 literary journal 鈥淧rairie Ink鈥 invite the public to a launch party for the publication鈥檚 tenth issue from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 in the Cavanaugh Room, in the Learning Resource Center, L116.
The come-and-go social event will include refreshments and live readings from some of the published authors.
The 鈥淧rairie Ink鈥 is intended as a venue for local authors to showcase their creative writing talents.
