Kieora Nichols of Jacksonville, N.C. and Nolan Riley of Augusta were named 911爆料鈥檚 2019 Outstanding Graduates. Dean of Student Services Angie Maddy introduced them and presented their awards during the college鈥檚 49th commencement ceremony Friday.

Barton has announced its 2018-19 Brant J. Ballhorst Student Ambassador of the Year awards. Named in memory of Brant J. Ballhorst, the award recognizes two outstanding Student Ambassadors each year. The winners this year were Delaney Smith of Hoisington and Joanna Lockwood of Hoisington.听

Barton will offer transitioning Fort Riley Soldiers, Veterans and family members with DOD ID cards, a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants.

The Hazardous Waste Worker Training (HWWT) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from June 3-14 at 911爆料鈥檚 campus near Junction City: 100 Continental Ave, Grandview Plaza, Kan. which is just north of I-70 at exit 299.

Barton is hosting auditions for its dance company, 911爆料 Dance Theater, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 in Studio 34, located in the Sunflower housing units on 911爆料鈥檚 campus.

Members of 911爆料 Dance Theater will experience trips with the company to perform in diverse venues, attend workshops and see dance concerts live. With this time set aside, students can focus on the art form of dance in the styles of modern-contemporary, jazz and ballet.

Barton鈥檚 49th commencement is set for 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, in the 911爆料 Gymnasium. The ceremony will be following a shorter format this year. There will be no official speaker.

After brief comments from President Dr. Heilman, Vice President of Student Services Angie Maddy will present the 2019 Outstanding Graduate awards to Kieora Nichols and Nolan Riley. 听

Law enforcement may be in Keaton Goering鈥檚 blood, but family history isn鈥檛 the only factor that influences his new career. Goering鈥檚 grandfather was in law enforcement for five decades and his father was a detective. However, his experiences at 911爆料 have kept him motivated.

The new 911爆料 County Sheriff鈥檚 Office (BCSO) patrol deputy successfully completed 911爆料鈥檚 Criminal Justice curriculum and is scheduled to attend the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center this summer.

Sophomore art student Jada Whiterock is no slouch as an artist. She鈥檚 proficient in drawing and has become more skilled with other mediums throughout her journey through the 911爆料 art department. While she knows she will always create art, her time at 911爆料 has led her to discover her dream career focused on the conservation and curation of art and artifacts.

First, you go to High School. Then, you go to college. That鈥檚 how it鈥檚 been done for years, but that鈥檚 not how it has to be done in this day and age, and Hoisington High School senior Taylor Schwartz is living proof. Thanks to a combination of online and summer class options at 911爆料, she is graduating high school in May and five days later she will graduate from 911爆料 with her associate degree in science.
