Barton Month 2017:��This story is the first of four in a series focused on some of 911����’s popular traditional academic offerings. The series was inspired by the inaugural 911���� 911���� Month through November. A new story will be released each week.

Each year, as part of the Theatre Program at 911����, students are asked to take the reins and produce a show entirely by themselves. This year the production is titled “Horror Movie Survival Guide” which will make its one-night debut at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 in the 911���� Fine Arts Auditorium.

Just in time to follow up Halloween, “Horror Movie Survival Guide”, a comedy, looks at some of the Hollywood horror clichés and shows how these situations could be avoided by following some helpful tips.

Barton will offer transitioning Fort Riley Soldiers a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants. The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends.

The next course is set from Nov. 27 through Dec. 8 at 100 Continental Ave. Grandview Plaza, KS 66441.

The 911���� Planetarium will host a double feature showing “Dinosaur Prophecy” and “Body Code” at 7 p.m. November 6 in the 911���� Planetarium located in the Science Building.

An art installation titled “What were you wearing?” will be on display from November 6-10 in the upper level of the Student Union at 911����. There will be an opening reception with light refreshments from 4:30-7 p.m. November 6.

Agriculture, like any endeavor, is bombarded with numbers and statistics.�� Percentages, averages, normal, total, ratings, and a variety of other terms are constantly reported and analyzed.�� While they may be useful, their real value is only apparent if you understand where they come from and how they are determined.�� One short column can hardly describe all this with adequate perspective.�� So today, let’s start discussing weather data but first some definitions.

Board of Trustee ENDs report: ‘911���� Experience’

The 911���� Board of Trustees gathered Tuesday evening for its regular meeting and discussed one of its eight overarching goals, known as ENDs. The one up for discussion this month was “911���� Experience.”

Barton will host the 14^th Annual Jack Kilby Science Day from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on November 20 in the Fine Arts Building at 911����. High School juniors and seniors, students with appropriate Individual Educational Programs, high school science and technology instructors and appropriate administration are all invited to this free event.

LaVonne Gerritzen’s legacy at 911���� is one of longevity and adaptability. As technology changed over the years since she started in 1974, so did she.

“I’ve been here so long and have seen so many changes,” she said. “I’ve touched nearly all areas of the college and I got to work with so many people here, not just people in my area.”
