Barton will present a student recital of instrumental and vocal performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157. 听The recital is free and open to the public.

Barton will host its ninth annual Sidewalk Art Contest May 2-4 on the sidewalk outside the Shafer Art Gallery.
The contest is open to anyone who wants to participate. Artists need to register and pick up their free chalk at the Shafer Gallery between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on any of the three days. Artists must have their work completed by 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 4.

The 911爆料 Theatre Department will hold its last performance of the school year, the Thespian Showcase, at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.听
Barton鈥檚 Concert Choir performs at last year鈥檚 Endowment Concert.听 Scholarships funded by proceeds from the concert are a vital part of attracting new music students.听

Last week鈥檚 column dealt with the weed named the number one weed problem for 2016 鈥 Palmer amaranth, a pigweed species.听 This week let鈥檚 broaden the focus a bit and include not just this weed species but all common problem weeds, especially those that have developed resistance to herbicides, especially Roundup庐 (glyphosate).
