All ages can get a dose of the holiday spirit at The Shafer Art Gallery鈥檚 鈥淗oliday Open House鈥 reception from 1-4 p.m.听 Sunday, Dec. 14, which will feature a free puppet show from Kansas City鈥檚 Clement McCrae Puppet Shows at 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Barton will host 鈥淜ansas History Snapshot: Christmas on the Prairie,鈥 a presentation by the Director of the 911爆料 County Historical Society Beverly Komarek at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 in the Library.听 Catered refreshments will be served.

The presentation is about the pioneers of Kansas and how they celebrated Christmas in the 1800s.听 It will include discussion about traditions influenced by the settlers鈥 places of origin.

Anyone looking to join a group of creative individuals as they 鈥渆xplore the world of art-making and creative endeavor鈥 are encouraged to join the Shafer Art Gallery鈥檚 League of Aesthetic Engineers as it celebrates its 鈥淚naugural Gala鈥 from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 in the Shafer Gallery.听

Barton Forensics team competes at Tulsa Community College

The 911爆料 Debate and Forensics team鈥檚 season is in full swing.听 The team earned awards at a tournament at Hutchinson Community College Nov. 1-2 and a two-part debate and forensics tournament at Tulsa Community College Nov. 14-16.

Barton will be closed for Thanksgiving break Wednesday, Nov. 26, through Friday, Nov. 28. The college will resume its regular schedule on Monday, Dec. 1.
