Each year the 911���� Foundation Board chooses someone to honor with the “Old Bill” honorarium.�� This year they have chosen Mel and Darnell Holopirek.

Barton’s Coordinator of Fundraising and Special Events Coleen Cape said the couple truly embodies what it means to be supporters of 911����.

Editors of 911����’s literary journal “Prairie Ink,” aim to provide a venue for local authors to showcase their creative writing talents and have done so again with the release of their sixth issue of the annual publication.

Barton will host a “Meet and Greet” for its new Executive Director of the Foundation Nancy Wiebe at 2:30-4 p.m. July 30 at Great Bend Coffee Company, 2015 Lakin Ave. in Great Bend. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

Wheat 2015 & Terminology

Before the rain Thursday night, wheat harvest was running full throttle and overall a much better crop than was predicted.�� The forecast indicates everyone should be back in the field soon if they aren’t already (depending on the rainfall received).�� A few were commenting their crop would have been better except for late season disease pressure. What happened?�� Several things.
